ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Monday’s “Google Doodle” celebrates a half-century of computer programming languages developed just for kids.

It also kicks off a week long of activities dedicated to coding in St. Charles County.

Scott Drachnik is director of workforce and business development for St. Charles County.

“This has been an effort that’s been underway across the world to try to encourage more people to understand about computer software programming, coding, basically,” he says.

He says highlights of “Hour of Code” week are a cyber security workshop and an I-T Meet-Up, both happening on Thursday

To learn more about event times and places check out the St. Charles County website.

Drachnik says it’s called “Hour of Code” because the basics of computer programming can be learned in under 60 minutes.
