ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A new skyscraper is planned for downtown St. Louis that would certainly change the skyline as we know it.
It’s a 33-story building of high-rise apartments, and it’s planned for the current site of a St. Louis Community College building at 300 South Broadway. That’s across from Busch Stadium, next to the Tums factory.
The Community College district is selling the building, which houses their headquarters. An agenda for the preservation board says HDA Architects, a Chesterfield firm, is the developer of this new skyscraper. The Business Journal first spotted that agenda item.
Thirty-three stories — to compare, the U.S. Bank building has 35 floors. The AT&T Tower and Met Square buildings are 44 and 42 stories.
This new residential tower would be literally catty-corner from another skyscraper expected to start construction soon; that’s the second phase of Ballpark Village.
Not a lot of details about this new skyscraper available now, but we’ll certainly learn more at that preservation board meeting on December 18.
