(KMOX) – An emotional moment on Wednesday’s episode of “The View,” as former Vice President Joe Biden consoles Meghan McCain, whose father John McCain was diagnosed with the same brain cancer as Biden’s late son, Beau.
Beau Biden passed away in May of 2015, at age 46.
“I think about Beau almost every day,” McCain tells Biden through tears.
“I know you and your family have been through tragedy that I couldn’t conceive of,” McCain continues. “What would you tell people —”
“Look, look, look,” Biden interrupts her question, walking over to sit next McCain, grabbing her hand.
“One of the things that gave Beau courage — my word — was John,” Biden says. “Your dad took care of my Beau.”
“There is hope, and if anybody can make it,” Biden continues, “your dad — her dad is one of my best friends.”
He jokes that the two are like brothers raised by different fathers because of their opposite points of view — Biden is a Democrat, and McCain is a Republican.
Biden expressed the importance of having and maintaining hope after a cancer diagnosis.
