ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Some welcome news for drivers who take Interstate 44 to or from the city of St. Louis.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says all lanes of I-44 will re-open at Shrewsbury on Monday, with just a few daytime lane closures planned through Wednesday for finishing work.

MoDOT’s Andrew Gates says the ramp from Shrewsbury to eastbound I-44 will re-open by 6 p.m. Wednesday.

There’s been construction in that zone since March.

Gates says work on the eastbound I-44 bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks will require similar traffic restrictions in 2018.

“We’re looking at probably doing the same type of thing, but we’ll get out specifics when we get closer, starting in March and running through December of next year,” he says.
