ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A Kentucky state lawmaker facing an allegation of sexual assault has apparently killed himself.
A coroner says it appears Republican Dan Johnson shot himself on the side of a road outside Louisville.
A woman told the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting that Johnson sexually assaulted her in 2013. Police did not file any charges against Johnson.
The report was published on Monday. Johnson is the pastor of a Louisville church. The following day, during a press conference at his church, he denied the accusation from the pulpit.
“There are people that have had abuse, there’s workplace abuse, there’s all of that. But at the same time I think there’s people that have taken that now and have used that for political stones and rocks to throw,” he said.
