Illinois Police Search for Missing Godfrey Man

GODFREY, Ill. (KMOX) – The Madison County Sheriff’s is searching for a missing Godfrey man.

A family member told police she last saw 36 year-old Charles Roe leaving his home in the 4900 block of Southwood Drive in Godfrey, Illinois around 5:00 p.m., Wednesday. He was planning to attend a 5:30 p.m. church services at St. Mary’s Church in Alton, Illinois.

It is unknown if Roe attended the church service but authorities found Roe’s abandon vehicle on the rear parking lot of St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton.

The area where Roe’s truck was located is being searched extensively.

The family member says his disappearance is highly unusual and is concerned for his well being.

Anyone who believes they may have seen Charles Roe, or who has information related to his disappearance, is asked to contact the Madison County Sheriff’s Office at the following numbers:

UPDATE: Teen Dies After Asking to be Shot

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis Police say an 18 year-old who allegedly asked his friend to shoot him has died.

Matthew Pellegrini was shot Tuesday night while sitting in his friends car. According to police 21-year-old Kevin Beindorff showed Pellegrini a revolver. Pellegrini then asked Beindorff to shoot him. Beindorff allegedly raised the gun to the victim’s forehead and fired one shot, then drove him to a hospital.

Biendorff is being held on a $300,000 cash only bond. His current charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action are expected to be upgraded.

Investigators say the pair knew each other. And there is no motive for the deadly shooting at this time.

Missouri Senate Backs New Limits on ‘Robocalls’

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) – The Missouri Senate has passed legislation that would forbid automated phone calls known as “robocalls” from going to numbers on the state’s no-call list.

The Senate backed the legislation in a 32-0 vote Thursday. It now goes to the House.

Political phone calls would be exempt from the new rule. But those political calls would have to include a statement saying which candidate or campaign paid for it.

People or groups who violate those rules could face a fine of up $5,000 for each violation.

Sponsoring Sen. Scott Rupp, a Wentzville Republican, says political calls can’t be banned because that could interfere with a candidate’s First Amendment right to free speech. But he says people should know which campaign is responsible for the call.
