Chris Hrabe hosts “Sports Open Line” on KMOX from 6pm-midnight weekdays, and contributes to St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues pregame and postgame shows.
Hrabe joined KMOX in April of 2013 after spending more than three years as a host and reporter at WHBQ Radio in Memphis, Tenn. During his time with the all-sports-station, he hosted both morning and afternoon drive. He also covered the Memphis Grizzlies’ playoff runs in 2011 and 2012, including the franchise’s first playoff series win. Additionally, Hrabe worked as both a TV and radio play-by-play voice for various college and high school football and basketball broadcasts throughout the Mid-South.
A 2008 graduate of the University of Missouri’s J-School, Hrabe was awarded both the Hearst Award and the Ernest H. Garbe Scholarship recognizing excellence in journalism. Following graduation from Mizzou, he got his start in radio as an intern at WGN Radio in Chicago.
A Chicago native, Hrabe enjoys playing golf in his spare time. He is the oldest of five children.
FIVE QUESTIONS WITH CHRIS:
What is your favorite St. Louis activity?
Besides being at games? The unbelievable golf courses!
What would you do if you weren’t in radio?
Spending all my time at another job listening to sports talk radio.
Do you have any pets?
No. My mom never let us get a dog growing up because she claimed 5 kids (and 4 boys) were enough work!
Share one random fact.
I play the drums, and got my first drum set when I was in sixth grade.
If you could live anywhere else in the country, where would it be?
Chicago, Ill. or Boston, Mass. — the two places in the country where all of my family lives! But despite being incredibly supportive, I’m not sure my parents would let me move back in.
