Forest (Park) Fire
12/2/11-With fire crews hovering nearby, workers set a large section of the Deer Lake Natural Area of Forest Park ablaze Friday. It was all part of a controlled burn designed to “maintain the vitality and health of the savannas and prairies” within a 14-acre section of the park. An official with Forest Park Forever estimates it’s the first controlled burn at the park in more than 100 years. (KMOX/Brett Blume)
