No popcorn at the Avalon. Though this loss was over a long time, it shows St. Louis as most self-destructive and discriminatory in what it is told to save, and not save. The Avalon was not in the central corridor between grand avenue and Forest Park. Of no concern to the ‘money’ people, putting another $100 million in the Park, & hundreds of millions into Kiener Plaza and around the Arch. ‘Avalons’ all of the Country were restored and reopened for multiple use. They revive main streets USA, downtowns, neighborhoods, aging inner-suburbs. I blame Schoemehl, Bosley, Harmon and Slay, The SLDC, and view Landmarks as-useless. This building should have been put on the National Register 20 years ago, the City become engaged as it saved and subsidizing Bevo Mill, until a private investor saw the ‘money’.Do not blame the eccentric owner. That is a smoke screen for municipal failure. I tried. I tried in September, October, November, and December.

That is such a cute idea. I did something aiimlsr as a wedding gift. Well, without the vinyl because I’m not crafty like that. But there was a bowl and some popcorn in a gift bag.
