Previous Image Next Image Next Gallery: Westboro Church Members Protest Outside Clayton HS
2/6/12-Hundreds of counter protestors turned out to try and drown out members of the controversial Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church, who targeted Clayton High School Monday morning. About a half-dozen Westboro Church members stood behind police barriers well away from the counter protestors, and nobody, not even the press, were allowed near them. Westboro members sang the tune "God Bless America" with the word "hates" replacing the word "bless", and holding signs saying things like "God Hates Fags". In return, Clayton HS students and their supporters shouted back "Love conquers hate!" to drown out the Westboro contingent. Church members left after about a half-hour without incident, and students filed into class. (KMOX/Brett Blume)
