10/12/12-Dedicated members of the Italian-American Organization of St. Louis gathered once again at the base of the Christopher Columbus statue at Tower Grove park Friday morning. They like to observe the exact date that Columbus reportedly "discovered" America. It was not a place to bring up the PC-fueled campaign to rename the holiday "Explorers' Day" to shift focus off of Columbus, who some say was tainted by a legacy of slavery, imperialism, and the downfall of Native Americans.
