Missouri authorities were searching for a flatbed truck’s driver who fled a deadly chain-reaction wreck on the St. Louis area’s Blanchette Bridge across the Missouri River.
The Interstate 70 bridge connecting St. Louis County and St. Charles County opened over the weekend, more than 2 months ahead of schedule.

MoDOT will have multiple lanes closed and some ramp closures the next three nights on Interstate 70 at the Blanchette Missouri River Bridge.
According to authorities, a barrel being lifted by a crane fell on the victim.
MoDOT expects to open the westbound portion of the bridge by late summer.
Motorists are advised to use Route 370 or Route 364 as alternate Missouri River crossings.
A six-decade old section of the Blanchette Bridge is no more.
All lanes in both directions will be shut down from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
