The building commissioner is defending the integrity of the city’s old brick buildings, despite the partial collapse of a five-story building on Laclede’s Landing this week.
The collapse involved all five floors of the southern wall and part of a MetroLink station, which has been shut down, the chief says, for fear that the vibrations from the train could cause more collapse and damage.
It appears the man suffered no obvious external injuries. He was transported to Saint Louis University Hospital for observation.
