A spokesperson for St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay says he’s not sending mixed signals about preserving the city’s historic past.
Mayor Chief of Staff Jeff Rainford says both sides now agree that the original incentives that Vertical Realty was seeking were infeasible.
“It’s time,” City Treasurer Tishaura Jones said. “I mean, we’ve had ten warehouses there and we saved eight. I think that’s a pretty good percentage.”
Vertical Realty met with the city on Wednesday, and a representative says they’re now waiting to hear back.
Negotiations between the city of St. Louis and the Vertical Realty Advisors continue this week for the Cupples 7 warehouse.
The city of St. Louis is expected to officially declare its intention to issue a demolition permit on the Cupples 7 building today.
