Two more suspects in the Tuesday morning Central West End ambush attack on an off-duty St. Louis police officer are in custody, including the man police say was the shooter.
A 39-year-old sergeant with 16 years on the force was shot at Maryland and Euclid in the Central West End just before 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Authorities said officers responding to a report that a man was standing in a street, yelling for police to be called, were told at the scene by the man’s mother that her son was acting paranoid, and that she feared for her safety and that of her son.
Authorities say they have captured a 19-year-old man who they say escaped from a juvenile detention facility west of Chicago.
