The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission says a viral disease has spread to deer populations across much of Nebraska.
The Department of Conservation will take tissue samples from September 15 through January.
More than 700 deer are known to have been killed so far this summer in Illinois by Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease.
