Downtown St. Louis’ massive Railway Exchange Building, better known as the old Famous-Barr, then Macy’s, building is still empty.
Some of the best and brightest visionaries from the Fox School of Design at Washington University have unveiled their ideas for what the future of the 1.2 million square foot Railway Exchange Building should look like.
The massive Railway Exchange building has been empty since Macy’s closed last year.
St. Louis has joined the ranks of St. Paul, Minnesota and Houston, Texas as cities in which Macy’s has closed the doors of a downtown department store.
The building was home to Famous-Barr for most of those nine decades. Macy’s will shut its doors for the final time at six o’clock tonight.
