The four-strain, or quadrivalent, vaccine will protect against two Type-A strains, H1N1 and H3N2, along with two Type-B strains.
Only 48 percent of schools address pandemic preparedness and only 40 percent have updated their plans since the 2009 H1N1 pandemic.
To illustrate the point, County Executive Charlie Dooley rolled up his sleeve and got a shot.
“It’s not uncommon to see them in August and September,” pharmacist Clark Kebodeaux said.
About 1,500 swine flu or H1N1 cases have been reported in Mexico since January.
