A relatively warm December is coming to an end, and the weather is taking a turn for the cold. As a result, St. Louis officials are opening the city’s emergency shelter for the homeless.
Many homeless say if the center is shut down, they will not leave the area.
Last month, St. Louis postponed a decision on whether to shut down the New Life Evangelistic Center for the homeless following months of testimony from nearby residents who complained of loud noise, fights and public urination.
The hearing on the future of the New Life Evangelistic homeless shelter downtown has been pushed back until the fall.
