The mayor of the southern Illinois city of Caseyville named a new police chief, filling a post made vacant by the June suicide of the previous chief.
Mayor Leonard Black says he wants a chief who’ll restore integrity to the department.
Roth faced charges of misconduct related to seized property, including a truck, which he allegedly held for personal use.
Chief J.D. Roth is accused of using a pickup truck which was seized by police for his personal use.
Caseyville records show that Police Chief J.D. Roth did not sell the 2003 Dodge Ram pickup at auction, as required under state law, but instead drove it 65,000 miles for personal use and charged the village more than $6,000 for maintenance
