House, Senate Leaders Call for Public Hearings to Investigate Nixon’s Response to Ferguson

Missouri Senate and House leaders today called for public hearings to investigate Gov. Jay Nixon’s response to the unrest in Ferguson, and to determine if emergency appropriations are necessary to fund operations for the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Missouri National Guard.

Records Reveal Divide on Ferguson Police Tactics

Emails obtained by The Associated Press show the Missouri Highway Patrol captain placed in charge of security in Ferguson after Michael Brown’s death was both vilified and praised for appearing to sympathize with protesters.

Gov. Nixon Outlines Ferguson Preparations

Nixon said that once the decision is announced, the state highway patrol will work with St. Louis County and city police as one unified command. The National Guard will also be available if needed.
