A man whose 2007 terroristic threat conviction was overturned may finally be able to put his legal troubles behind him.
Olutosin Oduwole was released from prison Monday. He had been serving a five-year sentence linked to a 2011 conviction of attempting to make a terrorist threat.
An Illinois appeals court has thrown out the conviction and five-year prison sentence against an aspiring rapper who prosecutors said threatened a murderous rampage in a scribbled note found in the college student’s car.
The sponsor, Senator Bill Haine of Alton, says he was inspired by the case of an Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville student.
Olutosin Oduwole’s attorneys call the note harmless and merely music lyrics.
