As the 49ers look back on this season, it will not be positive. The team almost had a losing record, and missed the playoffs after 3 straight NFC Championship games. However, the teams awful season has to do with injuries than anything else, and a problem that shouldn’t haunt them next season.
With his team coming off a bad loss last Sunday in Kansas City, and staring down the barrel of a meeting with a rested and angry San Francisco 49er team this coming Sunday, Rams head coach Jeff Fisher made an unusual decision regarding the team’s first practice of the week on Wednesday.
The Niners have the 11th-best offense in the NFL this season at 357.4 yards per game. Most of that work is done through the air, where quarterback Colin Kaepernick has thrown for 1,719 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. The Rams have their work cut out for them.
It doesn’t get any easier this week, as St. Louis will find itself on the national stage with a Monday Night Football matchup coming up against the big, bad San Francisco 49ers.
When the 49ers and Seahawks meet for the third time this season the stakes could not be higher. The winner will move on to the Super Bowl, while the loser will have to deal with falling just short of the big stage and to make matters worse at the hands of their hated division rival.
