Illinois won’t be allowed to pay state workers in full during an ongoing budget impasse.
Attorney General Lisa Madigan raised doubts Monday about Gov. Bruce Rauner’s plan to continue paying state employees even if there’s no budget agreement by Wednesday.
Cook County Circuit Judge said oral arguments will be presented Sept. 18 for the lawsuit filed by Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton.
The governor said the bill would have placed “unnecessary burdens on public employees for the purpose of weakening labor organizations.”
