Sen. Jason Crowell
Missouri lawmakers have finally made progress on the state’s $24 billion operating budget.
Passing the state budget is the only thing the Missouri Constitution requires the General Assembly to accomplish during the session.
The budget must be sent to Gov. Jay Nixon’s desk by May 11 at 6 p.m.
The Senate ended a two day gridlock and passed the state’s $24 billion budget early Wednesday morning.
The Senate adjourned near midnight after eight hours without a compromise on Missouri’s $24 billion budget.
“We have now back slided so far that now we have to pass tax credit bills just to keep the jobs we have.”
Missouri’s Senate has voted to create non-prison alternatives for non-violent probation and parole violators.
