Nixon Activates Missouri National Guard in Response to Potential ‘Period of Unrest’

Gov. Jay Nixon today signed an executive order activating the Missouri National Guard to support law enforcement during any period of unrest that might occur following the grand jury’s decision concerning the investigation into the death of Michael Brown.

Gov. Nixon Outlines Ferguson Preparations

Nixon said that once the decision is announced, the state highway patrol will work with St. Louis County and city police as one unified command. The National Guard will also be available if needed.
