There is no evidence that McCaskill personally routed the money to her husband’s businesses, according to an Associated Press analysis.
Last week, McCaskill said she had raised $5.8 million from July through September. Akin has not yet released his quarterly fundraising figures.
“This was an unintentional oversight and I regret any inconvenience this may cause,” the Missouri congressman wrote in a letter.
“We fight the terrorists because they are fundamentally un-American, and yet we have terrorists in our own culture called abortionists,” Akin said.
Akin began running a TV ad Monday claiming “the stimulus made McCaskill rich.”
The Campaign for Working Families announces it will give a “six-figure” donation to Missouri Republican Todd Akin’s Senate bid.
The former Missouri Senator’s endorsement comes a month after he previously called on Akin to quit.
Akin said Thursday that McCaskill “came out swinging” in their Sept. 21 debate. He said that contrasted with her 2006 debates.
