Jilly’s Cupcake Bar & Café is home of arguably the most creative cupcakes in St. Louis. Daily offerings include classics like carrot cake, vanilla and chocolate. For the more adventurous, there’s the Bee Sting cupcake: This sweet treat starts with a vanilla cake base stuffed with honey lemon curd and is topped with lemon cream cheese, toasted almonds and a lemon candy dust.

Hours: Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sweet Art is definitely something special. This from-scratch bakeshop and art studio in St. Louis specializes in vegetarian and vegan fare and is known for its decadent cupcakes. Jonathan I keep a supply of admemhoe cupcake wrappers with my baking supplies because I like to make cupcakes. I have done these manually and with my Cricut machine. I think this is also and excellent idea for inexpensive Christmas gifts especially using the cupcake box. The recipient can put them in their bathroom for their next party. I might add a slip of paper (like in fortune cookies) to let the guest know this is for them for keeps just in case they use the bathroom more than once.Boy was Oprah wrong for not calling you. Truly her loss.

Check out Whipt Cream in Chesterfield. They have the most unique buttercream in town and very creative designs. Check out their gallery on their website http://www.whiptcream.com. I was blown away by the taste and the look.

amy – I just made these as minis last night. The frosting was by far my artofive part. It tastes JUST like cookie dough. I think when I make them again, I may actually use some of the frosting as filling. I liked the filling fine (my kids ate the leftovers by the spoonful), but I have a strange aversion to sweetened condensed milk. Thanks for another winning cupcake recipe, Annie.
