Cornhole is found at many of the top bars with drinking games in St. Louis, though it is not necessarily a drinking game, even though the players usually share at least a pitcher of beer while they play. It is also called “Tailgate Toss,” “Bean Bag Toss” or even “Lawn Darts for Drunks.” Play it by tossing a bag filled with corn toward a hole, drilled near the top of a slanted board. The idea is to get the corn-filled bag to land in the center of the drilled hole, but there are points given if you land it close. St. Louis is home to some cornhole leagues that meet at sporting stores, meeting halls and some of the following top bars for cornhole in the area.

Try your hand at a round of cornhole, which is usually referred to as “bags” at this local hot spot. Join a league to play every Thursday, or just kick back for some friendly competition any other day of the week. Either way, you don’t have to spend a fortune since this restaurant bar offers everything on the menu for less than $10. Nothing on the menu costs more than $9.95. The newly extended patio makes for the perfect spot to throw some bags on a nice afternoon.

There are no rules that say you cannot substitute the traditional pitcher of beer that corresponds with most bag tossing of cornhole. Trade in the drink for the most delicious bowl of beer cheese soup you’ve ever tasted. Drive just south of the city down Highway 55, and you will come upon a place that celebrates the game of cornhole like no other. Try the delicious pub food inside, and then head to the back to throw the bags.

When you want to host a party of any kind, locals know that this is the place. As the name implies, you’ll find a huge dance floor where you can dance to country music or honky tonk. This St. Peters party spot also welcomes special tournaments of cornhole and other sports played inside or outside on a patio. When the bags begin to fly, this place offers plenty of room to throw.

One of the most welcoming spots for local sports fans to gather is in this small tavern in the heart of South City just a few blocks from Tower Grove Park. Enjoy the large pool table, or try your hand at a game of darts. Fans gather to celebrate everything from a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game to the Blues hockey win or just to kick back and listen to some live music with friends. One favorite sport enjoyed just out back of the bar, on the patio, is “tossing some bags” in a game of cornhole.
