Lemp Mansion, one of the most haunted mansions in the country, is home to St. Louis’s favorite Halloween party. This is the place for people who like their Halloween as spooky and macabre as possible. Dress up in your most creative costume and mix with Lemp’s authentic ghosts and poltergeists for a rowdy bash filled with food, music and tasty adult beverages. The $55 admission price includes multiple buffets spread throughout the rooms of the house, live music by several top local bands, an open bar and costume contests with cash prizes.

This party, known locally as the king of all pub crawls, emphasizes the pure silliness and creative fun of Halloween over the spookier elements. Participating establishments include Sekisui, Mojo Tapas, Absolutli Goosed, Urban, Cafe Natasha, Mangia Italiano and City Diner. Your wristband entitles you to bottomless beverages, live entertainment, contests and treats.

The Central West End’s Halloween bash goes on all day, beginning with a kids costume parade and party at 11 a.m. followed by trick-or-treating until the canine costume parade begins at 1 p.m. But the grownup fun begins at 8 p.m. when the adults come out for the annual CWE Costume Contest & Party. The costumes at this contest are legendary for their creativity, complexity and outrageousness. Everyone is encouraged to come in costume. The more bawdiness and pageantry the better.

Casa Loma Ballroom has been a St. Louis landmark for 85 years, waxing and waning with the popularity of big bands and swing music. For Halloween, Casa Loma is bringing in That 80s Band to rock the house and offering $500 in costume contest prizes. Dancers really enjoy the huge “floating” dance floor, one of the largest in the Midwest, and the surrounding balcony that offers a bird’s eye view of the festivities. Cash bar and snack bar will be available. Call to reserve advance seating.

The midnight showing of “Rocky Horror Picture Show” at the Tivoli has been a St. Louis Halloween tradition for generations. The Tivoli offers prop bags so even virgin moviegoers will have the necessary newspapers, toilet paper rolls and other props needed to interact with the screen. (Don’t try to bring in your own props, it’s not allowed.) The Samurai Electricians will be enacting a live “shadow cast” performance. Dress as your favorite character, of course.
