slp2010123102 Latest concern for tornado victims? Looters

SUNSET HILLS, MO (KMOX)__Three people who allegedly stole from two storm damaged homes in Sunset Hills are in police custody.

Police say they’re accused of taking items from one home on Court Drive and another on West Watson. Meanwhile, FEMA investigators will be back in Sunset Hills today to continue the preliminary damage assessments.

Bryon Boka is leading the team which he says saw light to heavy damage along Lewis Place in north St. Louis during their tour there yesterday morning. The National Weather Service says an EF1 tornado touched down there on New Year’s Eve.

The twister that his Sunset Hills was rated at an EF4. Boka’s calls the damage in the strike zone there “significant.” Boka says FEMA is especially interested in uninsured property. The team’s findings will be sent to state officials who will decide whether or not to seek federal assistance.
