ST. LOUIS (KMOX) –  Many in the Northeast woke Wednesday to see more snow on the ground.  The story was much the same here in St. Louis yesterday, when that same low pressure system brought anywhere from 1 to 6 inches of snow across the city and the northern municipalities.

But those living in the Northeast or even Missouri for that matter can find some solace in knowing they are not alone.

According to National Weather Service meteorologist Geoff Maurer 69.4 % of the United State is covered with snow leaving only residents in Florida spared from snow shovels and boots.

Tropical island Hawaii even has some snow, however its on the top of mountains.

CNN’s Angela Fritz calls the weather “extremely unusual,” however she couldn’t say how often this phenomena happens because meteorologists don’t keep track of awesome statistics like “how many states have snow in them.”

Temperatures in the lower 48 states Tuesday ranged from a morning low of -29 degrees at Gunnison, Colo., to a high of 82 degrees at Opa Locka, Fla.
