ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The Cardinals have agreed to a 1-year deal with former Minnesota Twins and Philadelphia Phillies infielder Nick Punto.
Punto, 33, is a career .247 hitter with 13 HR, 198 RBI and 91 stolen bases in over eight seasons, most of which were spent with the Twins. His best overall season came with Minnesota in 2006 in which he hit .290 with 21 doubles and 45 RBI.
Hamstring injuries forced him onto the D.L. last year and limited his production to a .238 batting average in 88 games.
According to the team, the Cardinals 40-man roster is now full following the signing of Punto.
