ST. LOUIS (KMOX) –  A former St. Louis city prosecutor has died, one day after she was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

Officers responded to a home in the 2200 block of Wyoming early Wednesday morning after receiving a call about an attempted suicide.

The victim, 33-year-old Jessa Schauman, was rushed to St. Louis University hospital with critical injuries.

She died Thursday morning.

Police initially said that evidence at the scene suggested that Schauman had not pulled the trigger herself, and that someone else may have shot her.

However, investigators say there’s not enough evidence at this time to classify her death as a suicide and that it’s being labelled a “suspicious death”.

Police were interviewing a person of interest, but no charges have been filed in the case.
