ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — The state of Missouri is boasting a relatively healthy cash flow, despite the money woes in neighboring states.
It’s not new news, Illinois and Kansas are having trouble paying their bills. But Missouri State Treasurer Clint Zweifel says don’t worry we’re not in the same boat.
“Right now in the reserve account we managed 3.5 billion dollars,” Zweifel said.
And according to Zweifel the state of Missouri adds $300 – $400 to that reserve account everyday.
By contrast, Illinois has a $6 Billion backlog of unpaid bills and Kansas recently had to transfer state aid to cover school budgets, and delay $124 million in payments to state pensions.
