ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – In a sign of things to come for many Catholic dioceses nationwide, the St. Louis Archdiocese has released its own iPhone app.

The new app — called Catholic STL — allows users to find parishes, mass times and keep up to date on the latest news in the Archdiocese.

Jeff Geerling created the app as director of the Archdiocesan Office of Web Development.

“I think it’s really important for us and for other organizations to want to help people become closer to Christ and be able to see these kind of things wherever they are,” Geerling said. “If they’re in a train, if they’re in their car, if they’re at a party or something, if they have it on their iPhone it’s with them.”

The app also includes a way to post prayer requests.  A group of nuns will monitor that site and offer special prayers for each request.
