ST. LOUIS (AP) –  St. Louis police are trying to pinpoint who leaked a graphic crime-scene image of the body of a man authorities say fatally shot a deputy U.S. marshal and two other law enforcers before being killed in the gunfire exchange.

The St. Louis Police Department says it is probing the release of the photo of Carlos Boles to at least two local television

Neither station aired the photo.

Boles was shot and killed March 8 in his St. Louis home where law enforcers were trying to arrest him on drug and assault

Also killed was John Perry, an Illinois native who’d been with the U.S. Marshals for nearly 10 years.

It’s not immediately clear who took what the police department calls the “incredibly distasteful” picture of Boles’ bullet-riddled body.
