  1. Levon says:

You recently mnintoeed all the litter, dead animals and fast food joints across the nation. I think another aspect of America many of us forget, or are ignorant of, is widespread poverty. A few years ago I went on a typical 8-mile run, due west from where I live in downtown Chicago. Unbeknownst to me at the time, this took me right through the heart of some very poor neighborhoods. There was a good 5-mile stretch where I was the only white person, and I was shell-shocked with images of abject poverty. I recall seeing a burned out gas station, just rotting away. I got home and couldn’t believe that this 3rd World existed just a few miles from my apartment. Chicago has vast stretches of poverty and is one of the most racially segregated cities in America. As John Edwards keeps saying, “We can do better.”
