IRONTON, Mo (KMOX)-A week-long search for a small plane that had gone missing while en route from Arkansas to Wisconsin ended Friday evening, when the wreckage was found southeast of Ironton, Missouri.

Civil Air Patrol Lt. Colonel David Miller tells KMOX a pilot spotted what appeared to be a debris field in a hilly, heavily wooded area, “Local law enforcement, which was Madison County Sheriff’s Department, was contacted. They went into the site, which apparently was difficult to access, they had to obtain ATV’s to arrive. They verified it was the aircraft in question. There were no survivors.”

Miller says three people were on board the single-engine Piper Lance. Their names are not being released yet.
