ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – It was a long night for the Red Cross.

Spokeswoman Jessica Willingham says 600 volunteers are handing out shovels and rakes along with food and water. She expects more people to flock to the Red Cross as they wake up and assess the damage.

“[People] are now coming to the Red Cross and we expect many more to be contacting us and coming to the shelter throughout the day,” Willingham said.

That shelter has been positioned at the Maryland Heights Community Center on McKelvey Road in Maryland Heights.
