KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin has added guard Quinton Chievous to the Volunteers’ incoming class.

Chievous, a 6-foot-6, 200-pound native of Niles, Ill., is the son of former NBA forward Derrick Chievous, who holds the career scoring record at Missouri with 2,580 points.

As a senior at Notre Dame College Prep, Chievous averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds while leading his team to the state Class AAAA tournament and a 23-7 record and earning all-state honors.

Chievous joins guards Chris Jones, Wes Washpun and Josh Richardson as part of the Vols’ 2011-12 freshman class, Martin’s first as Tennessee’s coach.
