CAMERON, Mo. (KMOX) – Convicted kidnapper Michael Devlin was attacked and wounded at a maximum-security state prison last month.

The Missouri Department of Corrections confirms the incident to KMOX.

He was attacked by fellow inmate Troy Fenton on April 9th with shivs made from prongs taken from a manual typewriter.

Fenton reportedly named the weapons used in the incidident “Ben” and Shawn”, the names of the boys Devlin kidnapped, because he was upset with Devlin’s crimes.

Devlin received superficial puncture wounds.

He was treated and released from an area hospital within a 24-hour period.

Both inmates have been separated from each other, a department spokesman said, pending the outcome of an investigation.

In 2007 Devlin was convicted of kidnapping young boys Shawn Hornbeck and Ben Ownby.

He was serving 74 life sentences at the Crossroads Correction Center.

Hornbeck was missing for more than four years.

The boys’ recovery and return to his family was dubbed the “Missouri Miracle.”

Big thanks to both inmates! To bad they didn’t actually hurt him.
