BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) __ A former Pike County sheriff’s deputy has been ordered to spend a year and a half on probation in a case involving a female prisoner who said she was forced to perform a sex act on him at a freeway rest stop.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports that 68-year-old Robert Freeman of Griggsville pleaded guilty this month in St. Clair County to a felony count of official misconduct. That charge
carried a possible five years in prison.

The woman says she was being transported by Freeman as a prisoner when she asked him to pull into an Interstate 64 rest stop so she could smoke a cigarette.

She says she was coerced to perform the sex act because Freeman was armed.
