ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX)-Missouri Congressman Russ Carnahan, who is slated to lose his seat to re-districting, says he is “very much evaluating'” the 2nd district seat, which Republican Todd Akin is leaving to run for the U.S. Senate.

Carnahan says a large number of his current constituents are in that district, but he tells KMOX he’s not ready to speculate on his chances to win there, “It’s an open, competitive district that certainly many democratic candidates have carried …so we are going to look at it seriously and evaluate it.”

When asked if he is still considering challenging fellow Democrat William Lacy Clay in the first district, Carnahan said he is focusing on the 2nd district.

Carnahan says he is also watching a possible legal challenge to the new congressional map.

He says he has no timetable for making a decision.

It is time to retire the Carnahan’s and Clay. Family dynasties are killing our country.
