CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KMOX) –  A St. Louis man has drowned at Lake of the Ozarks.

The Missouri State Water Patrol say 39-year-old Timothy L. Miller was in the lake just before 1 am Monday.

Several witnesses reported hearing Miller calling for help approximately 75-100 feet from the nearest dock.

But by the time they arrived, Miller had slipped underwater and did not resurface.  The patrol says Miller’s body was recovered at 4:15 a.m. in 26-foot-deep water.

Water Patrol Capt. Matt Walz says none of the witnesses are sure why Miller went into the water.  Walz says  the lake is still fairly cold at this time of year and could have affected Miller’s muscles.
