UNDATED (KMOX) –  The Ballwin-based Open Space Council is launching a new program called “Passport to the Meramec River Trails.”

It encourages people to hike six trails in a year’s time and collect stamps on a special passport.

The Council’s Danielle Zemmel says you can’t beat the scenery, “You’re looking out at the river. It’s a very scenic, beautiful view. You can see reptiles, amphibians, and the different species of fish and waterfowl going through.”

Zemmel says  more than 150 people signed up for a kickoff event Saturday at the Green Rock Trail in Wildwood.
