FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KMOX) – A British man living in Southern Illinois is accused of giving a lethal dose of heroin to a 19-year-old.

Tyler McKinney of O’Fallon died February 23rd of a heroin overdose. 

The US Attorney’s office says 38-year-old Richard Klemis is accused of distributing the drugs that caused McKinney’s death, as well as distributing heroin to a minor and possession of heroin.

If convicted, Klemis faces a maximum sentence of life in prison plus fines.

McKinney’s obituary says he was a 2010 graduate of O’Fallon Township High School and a former member of the Lacrosse team.
