ELSBERRY, Mo.  (KMOX)-Four O’Fallon Missouri residents, including two children, remain hospitalized after a train hit their minivan Friday night, in Lincoln County.

The highway patrol says 45-year-old Craig Lyons saw a stopped train on a northbound set of tracks on Highway 79 near Elsberry, but his view of the southbound tracks was obscured.

The train pushed the van about 60 feet down the tracks.

There are no lights or gates at the crossing.

Troopers say Lyons and a 43-year-old female passenger had to be flown to hospitals for treatment of major injuries. A 16-year-old girl and ten-year-old boy were taken by ambulance.
