CLAYTON, Mo. (KMOX) – It took K-9 units and a helicopter to track down two suspects in a casino robbery this morning.

Charges now filed against 25-year-old Maurice Wilson and 19-year-old Kenneth Wilson accused of first degree robbery, armed criminal action and resisting arrest.  

Police say two men approached the victim in the parking lot of the River City Casino around 2 a.m.  One had a handgun.  They took his wallet and other valuables.

It led to a police chase up Interstate 55 and across the Mississippi River into the Metro East where the suspects crashed their vehicle into a corn field.  St. Louis County Police say the driver, Maurice Wilson, was arrested on site.  Kenneth Wilson got away, but was found hours later in Dupo, Illinois.

Both men remain in custody in Illinois.

COLUMBIA, Ill. (KMOX) — We’re now getting word that area police have caught both of the suspects wanted in connection with  an overnight armed robbery at the River City Casino in south St. Louis County.

It all began around 3 o’clock this morning when a casino patron reported a robbery. He said two men approached him in the casino parking lot, took his wallet and other valuables then ran away. A short time later, police spotted the suspects heading down I-55 and gave chase. The pursuit continued across the Mississippi River onto I-255 and into the Metro East.

The suspects eventually crashed their vehicle into a corn field, near Palmer Road in Columbia. One of the alleged robbers was injured and has been transported to a local hospital. The other managed to get away on foot. Police used K-9 units and a law enforcement helicopter to flush him out.  He was taken into custody walking on the highway not far from the crash scene.

This is the third time in a month that criminals have targeted a local casino.
