ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Missourians about to lose their home to foreclosure, help is available.  But the deadline to apply for it is fast approaching.

Natasha Wyckoff  manages Apprisen Financial Advocates and she says the Emergency Homeowners’ Loan Program or E-H-L-P has one-billion-dollars available . But you must apply on-line by next Friday, July 22nd. the website is

Eligible applicants must be 90 days or more passed due in mortgage payments.  Have decreased income whether due to loss of employment or under employment, divorce or medical bills.  The program is administered through HUD and is up to a 50-thousand-dollar interest free,  forgivable loan or grant.

Even if you are already in the loan modification, or Making Home Affordable Program, you are not necessarily disqualified from the E-H-L-P program. Wyckoff  says you should still fill out the application or go to the HUD website if you are in need of housing counseling.

In all 32 states are eligible for the program. However, Illinois is not one of the states. Again, the deadline for submitting an application is Friday, July 22 2011

    Why was Illinois not involved in this. And will they offer again, and will Illinois be eligible.
